Great for our family

A better Mass Ave will be great for our family, because we need good facilities for walking, biking, and driving—not just one kind of transportation alone.

When we walk and bike, we are usually on our way to school, or Alewife, or the bus stop, or businesses in East Arlington like Vincent's barbershop and the Capitol Theater.

When we drive, our car most commonly takes us to activities or shopping elsewhere, but we still want the street to be designed as well as possible so we can get there in a reasonable time.

I listened to all the questions that people have asked at public meetings and, in the end, I was persuaded that the Mass Ave plans have taken all these uses into account in a balanced way.

Smoother roads and ice cream

We are looking forward to smoother roads that will save us from regular suspension repairs on our car.

The kids are psyched to be able to ride up to the Capitol Theater on their bikes for a bit of ice cream in the summer time.

I know that Susan and I will both feel a lot better with them walking across Mass Ave to school every morning with the proposed crosswalk improvements.

Getting all this with money from State and Federal funding rather than an increase in our local tax bill sounds like an awesome deal to me! Let's get this thing rolling!

Thriving local businesses

We want a better Mass Ave because we would rather walk or bike to a thriving local business district than drive to the mall.

A great opportunity

It would be a shame to waste this unique chance to utilize state and federal funds to help make our streets safe for drivers, bikers and pedestrians.

We support the current plan because it balances the needs of everyone in our community and will be a dramatic improvement over what we have now.

East Arlington is leading the way

East Arlington is leading the way in the cultural and commercial renaissance of our town.  It is a great place to spend time as a family.

We can do better, though.  We need to start by ending the virtual partition of our neighborhoods and improving safety for everyone using Mass. Ave., whether they be on foot, on a bicycle, or in a bus or car.

By voting NO on April 6th, we are supporting a vision of a prosperous and safe 21st-century community.
